Reader Appreciation

I sometimes feel like a real dork when I tell non-bloggers how awesome my bloggy friends are. I've never met any of you in person and only spoken to one of you on the phone. Yet I've received emails, comments, snail mail, recipes, encouragement, belly laughs, advice, cool links, book recommendations and even gifts from my bloggy friends since entering the Blogosphere. And my interaction with you (you awesome bloggy people, you) gives as much punch to my day as any face to face interaction.

I love that I can count on certain people to make me laugh (Attila the Mom, Peggy Sez, Tootsie Farklepants, Mrs. G, Poppy, Suburban Correpsondent, Hen, Minnesota Matron). Other people constantly inspire me with their creativity and the way they their lives (Saucy, Linda Crispell, Eurolush, Kalurah, Jennifer H, Nan, Coast Rat). Some bloggers share a unique view of the world or show me beauty in places I'd never think to look (Rebecca Ramsey, Blackbird, Mom on the Run, Texas Poppet, Mary Alice, Cha Cha, Amy A.). And then there are those bloggy gals who are so darn friendly and fun, reading their blogs is like pulling up a chair to the "cool girls'" table (Jen, Ree, Madge, Jenn, Fannie, Gert, Colleen, Kat, Domestic Accident, Clemson Girl, Heidi, Adrienne & Holly).

To celebrate my bloggy friends, I'm giving away some bloggy bling. Check it out:

Two copies of Choke Creek, autographed by author Lauren Small--the beautifully crafted tale of 2 families who trace their roots to the Indian Wars in Colorado. Part western, part war story, all written in a literary style evocative of Ken Haruf.

Two 10-packs of scented tea lights from the Eco Candle Co. (a locally owned, environmentally friendly candlemaker). Winners can choose a scent from the website or let me pick one of my favorites (I'm addicted to "Homesick")

Finally, I'm buying a necklace or earrings of your choice from Rhymes with Magic valued up to $15 for the fifth and final winner. (Check her out--there are really wonderful pieces on her site!
)

How do you win one of these Reader Appreciation Gifts? Leave a comment between today and Friday. On Friday, Mr. G will pick FIVE winners out of an old ice cream bucket and I'll post them! Five prizes for five winners. Good luck--and thanks for stopping by and for your bloggy friendship.

  2. Green girl, I always enjoy your blog! And yep, I catch myself gushing about my blogging friends to people who look at me funny and say I should get out more. Why? I couldn't find more fun, clever people than right here!

    Awesome giveaway! What treasures!

  3. I was having fun laughing at Book Slut and Knit Nerd when Families Are Forever made me go "Awww."

The real life people think we're dorky 'cause they just don't get it.

Thanks for keeping me thinking green.

  4. I'm in. I should really win those earrings because much of my life has centered around being a ho.

  5. Aw, thank you darlin' - I think you're pretty cool yourself.

  6. I'm a fairly newbie follower to your blog but am enjoying every post. It is an interesting relationship we bloggers have. In some ways my blog readers know more about me than some family members. Even the hubby of 20 years says he's learned so much more about me since beginnig blogging. I too have learned more about myself.

I'm off to check out the links in this post. Looks like some good shopping.

  7. It's kind of hard to explain to non bloggers, isn't it. I was with a friend and saw Clemsongirl, Hair Girl and Tahoe Girl...but they don't know what I look like so I didn't say anything to them, and I didn't really want to have to explain the whole thing to my friend.

So someday we'll all meet again--they've all gotten together but they all have younger kids in common and have managed to bond IRL. I have more fun looking on from afar, if that makes sense.

  8. Awww, thanks. You're too kind, really you are, especially since we all know I'm not actually cool.

Am I the one blogger you've talked to on the phone? We'll have to do that again soon. :-)

    Hope you're feeling better today!!!

  11. Well, I don't make you laugh, inspire you, have a unique view of the world. Nor am I counted as "cool kid". So, could you humor me and let me win one of the prize instead? ;)

  12. You can sit at my lunch table any time! ;)

  13. I never talk about blogging or my bloggy friends to nonbloggers. It is just too difficult to explain.

You are such a sweetie. All the lovely words you have for everyone. So nice. And this is quite the giveaway, woman! Wow!!! Looks fabulous. :)

  14. Here's a big "high five" for you! I'll have you know that this is the only blog I read. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own life!

  15. I love to hear what is going on in your busy life and mind! It keeps this old person caught up with the world around us. Giving gifts is always fun...

  16. So my name is Heidi. And people call me Ho. Heidi Ho just fits together like peas and carrots.

I think that deserves the earrings.

  17. Pick me! Pick me! :)
Although I wasn't on your list *sniff*, I'm very glad to have discovered you and your blog! I'm never disappointed when I stop by your place!

  18. I'm a regular here at Green Girl! I can't decide which prize is better: the book or the eco-candles!

  19. OOoooh, if you wear those gorgeous earrings can you act like a Ho? I know you only love me for my compost. Seriously, though, I get the same "You are a nerd" look when I talk about my friends who I've never "met". You have enriched my life so, and it's difficult for most people to understand. Blogging has become essential to my sanity. I NEEEED you, Green Girl!

  20. Melissa, Thank you so much for your very kind words. You are a sweetheart!

I can't trace my family roots to the Indian Wars in Colorado, but I can trace them back to the French and Indian Wars occurring in this country prior to the American Revolution.

  22. I love blogging and reading other people's blogs - especially those that support the green scene! And a give-away too - it's almost too much - it feels like Christmas . . . or my birthday . . . or something!

  23. Thanks for the blog lurve. You're good about that--giving the people some Green Girl happiness. Whereas I am selfish and shallow, and offer my readers nothing but photographs of myself in various Glamour Shot poses. That's just how big momma rolls.

If I am chosen, I would like the book. Because in addition to be selfish and shallow, I am also well-read.

    Thank you and good-night.

  24. If Mrs G. can be a ho then I can be an ass.

  26. Hoping for the candles.

BTW, I'm a cool girl? Surely, you jest.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Um, I'm going to pretent I'm the Colleen you're talking about, cuz I've always wanted to be a cool girl but still fall short. ;-)

AWESOME giveaways - I'd love to have any of them!!!

YOU are on my bloggy buddy "makes my day" list!!!

  28. Much bloggy love back at ya'! And seriously, that is the first time I've ever been referred to as "cool" - thanks :)

  31. I have a few friends who don't understand blogging and the friendships that form. I'm so glad that I found you early on - your blog is one of my favorites, and it's always a lift in my day to read what you write.

That book looks really good. Not that I like the West or anything. All of these look great!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love Bloggy Love! That is sweet.

  33. I just found your blog, and ohmigosh, having grown up in Indiana and now living in the wilds of Oklahoma - a long way from home - it was such a rush of home for me. It's such a pleasure to read!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ooh, where have I been! Holiday shopping is interrupting my blog time!
This is why I love blogging - no one here at home thinks I'm cool!
And I'd keep reading your blog even if you weren't giving away such nice goodies...

  35. And speaking of candles... have you tried Dirt Candles. They're great. Completely organic with biodegradable packaging. They're alsow soot free and slow burning which I love. They have a website at www.dirtcandles.com or check out www.thegreenshutter.com.

    Green is the new black!
