snow day prep

Five will get you ten that tomorrow's a snow day for my kids what with Winter Storm Allison promising a foot of flurries and blizzard conditions. To that end I have:

cookie sprinkles
enough ingredients for TWO batches of sugar cookies
hot cocoa mix
Christmas movies--The Santa Claus and Elf
snow pants, boots and extra mittens
coal and buttons but cannot find a corn cob pipe anywhere*
art supplies, books, puzzles, games and play doh
about 1/3 a bottle of this MLH**:

Thanks, Kara!

* bonus points if you know that song allusion
** Mother's Little Helper, not to be confused with Slugger or Dusty

  2. I am really hoping for a snow day tomorrow for us too. They're few and far between living in a first ring suburb, but we're expecting about 10 inches and high winds.

It sounds like you are ready for a nice time!

  3. I was hoping we would get hit here in northern Illinois too, but it looks like it's going to rain most of the night and then turn to snow tomorrow. What a bummer! I love snow days!!!

  4. I so remember those days in WI. I have a picture of me standing next to a hugh snowdrift piled higher than the corner stop sign.

  5. Wear your pajamas inside out, brush your teeth with the opposite hand, and do the snow dance. My teen says thanks, my students say thanks. My husband? Not so much.

  8. I don't know the song but anyone with a friend named Kara is a friend of mine.

That's my daughter's name. So, obviously, one of my all-time favs.

  9. Frosty the Snowman was a very happy soul...

My oldest niece sang that Frosty had a "butt and nose" when she was a toddler. :)

The Santa Clause is one of my favorite Christmas movies.

Enjoy the snow day! We're just getting rain here in the middle of IL (typical)...sure wish I could send my cookie baking chores your way!

    Song=Frosty the Snowman

I'm not amused that the snowstorm is named after my daughter!

  11. Our middle son played that song ALL day (I can't compalin much...it was Harry Connik Jr). It is a beautiful snow, blanketing everything with fluff... but home schooling puts a cramp on the whole snow day thing :)

  16. We have a snow day here today but it is odd because we really haven't gotten any snow yet. It is mostly a slushy mixture. We are supposed to get about 5-6 inches later today though. We'll see.

Still, I love me some snow days. :)

  17. Preparing for a possibble snow day is delicious. The idea of a snow day that could cancel school in Wisconsin makes me a little afraid.
