holiday homes tour '10

Welcome, friends, to the Third Annual Holiday Homes Tour! Let me take your coat and pass you a cup of something hot. I confess I decorated with a light hand this year in the spirit of simplicity.

One tree standing upright is a good place to start.

Gifts nestled among the greenery.

I brought out photos of Christmases past--I forgot about the year we put a baby gate around the tree to keep Mr. B out of the limbs!
I'm mad for chalkboards.
And paper wreaths.
Tiny nativity making a big statement on our mantel.

In keeping with a lot of white with red accents, I saved this pumpkin.

Only my favorites made the cut this year. Everything else stayed boxed up in the basement.

Paper garland on the stairs.
I may have mentioned having a thing for paper wreaths.

And little touches of red.

Ho! Ho! Snow!

  4. My mom likes to tell the story of how when I was a toddler they'd put the tree in the playpen so I'd have the run of the house but still couldn't touch the tree!

  15. What comes across is how much delight you take in the whole process--reliving past Xmases, tossing out some new color, creating new little vistas to look at (essential as mid-winter approaches). Yay for you!

  23. I have the same light fixture! And I usually do cranberries on it--I didn't get around to stringing any this year though.

  25. Love all your decor choices. No baby gate here just kept the 'special keep sakes' boxed up for a few years. We've been able to enjoy a family decor day where the kids decorate the tree with all the keep sakes for quite some years now.
