sunshine on the first day of autumn

so I'm thankful for that.
And 3 healthy boys.
And good friends.
And coffee with Mr. D.
The Bumble Book Club.
So many good books.
Char's divine cooking.
A couple of things from Title Nine to help take the edge off my seething hatred for fall:

Spill it, reader. What's making life good for you today?

  1. I made 2 loaves of chocolate chip pumpkin bread. That makes fall more happy ;-)

  4. I had my first salted caramel mocha from Starbucks today (first of the season, I mean). I normally get the salted caramel HOT CHOCOLATE but now they're selling it as a mocha (espresso shot added, I guess). I was worried I wouldn't like it, but I really couldn't even taste the difference.

Which makes me happy because I feel better about ordering a mocha at a coffee shop, than ordering a hot chocolate. That doesn't make a lot of sense considering I'm ordering a coffee so full of flavorings that it's not really coffee anymore . . . but that is neither here nor there.

  5. Hello, I came over from The Blue Ridge Gal. I'm originally from Wisconsin, that caught my eye. Just being the first day of Autumn and knowing cooler temperatures have GOT to come our way, makes me happy. Have a great weekend!

  6. Kitty's face when she saw the bride walking up the aisle today. "Auntie April is a bride!" her eyes were shining and she couldn't believe that she was finally at the wedding.

    Best. Moment. Of. The. Week.

I can walk to work and watch the leaves change color! Oops, I forgot you didn't want to know that.

  15. It's starting to get a lil' nippy here too... We are so lucky to have a pretty easy time, Dorset Winters aren't THAT bad. But ugh anyway. Those boots are fab! Today we went for a long walk, and enjoyed the, um, bracing wind on the cliffs and the beach. It was nice.

  17. I am rejoicing that I returned home today after a long (for me) trip by myself to help my aunt accomplish some difficult tasks that needed to be done.

I know you don't agree with this sentiment, but I love fall, and that's part of what made my trip bearable. But then, it doesn't get quite as cold in the winter where I am.

I love those boots! And I appreciate the reminder that I have to go buy new boots.

  18. When it gets unpleasantly hot today, I will be sitting in the ice rink. After this summer's heat wave, I am thankful any time I need a sweater.
