The wicked cold has settled upon us once again and since yesterday I got called in to sub, quelching yet another opportunity to head to the grocery store. No worries! We still have 3 rolls of toilet paper, a quart of milk, half a loaf of bread and coffee. I figured this morning I'd bundle up, brave the subzero temperatures and head to the store.
An hour ago the school secretary called. Mr. G's in her office, coughing and hacking and miserable. Plans thwarted once more. I tucked him into bed, poured some cough syrup into a spoon and said to him, "Listen you little germ-infested weasel..."
He looked at me and said, "I'm not German."
On a happy note, I'm enjoying one of my favorite winter time activities: kicking the huge chunks of snow free from the wheel wells on the Momvan. That is so satisfying.
It's Friday and we've bid farewell to Hillary Clinton and Liz Lemon in the same week. My heart breaks for those kids in Alabama who watched their bus driver get shot--what a hero--and that poor boy trapped in a bunker with a madman. Heavy times.
Any chance you could send Mr. Green Girl to the store to stock up on things like milk?
ReplyDeleteI was sadder than I realized in saying goodbye to Liz Lemon. Absolutely loved the last scene though. Glad they went out in true 30 Rock style.
"I'm not a German." Classic!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed a moment of wheel well snow chunk kicking last night. It was satisfying but the snow was too cold and too well-packed - it didn't budge!
They say we will end the day in the 30s here in NE. It was 1 when I left home at 7:30. It is 5 now. I wore the mid-30s coat today, not the less-than-10 coat. Come onnnnnnn, Mother Nature!
Feel better, Mr. G!
It is cold here in IA, too. Minus 2 when I got up at 7. Highs predicted to be in the lower 20,s but the clouds have moved in and there is chance of snow tonight. In northeast Iowa it is minus 7 right now with a wind chill of minus 20 and it is almost 11 a.m. We are the "hot spot" of the state. Won't spring feel good?
ReplyDeleteDid you know you can order groceries on Amazon?
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend! Tell Mr. G I hope he gets better soon.
"I'm not German." Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I miss kicking the snow out of the tires. Always made me feel like I was actually cleaning something while also getting out some aggression. Alas, a 12-passenger van is too tall. No wheel-well crud to kick.
I'm not nearly as cold and as warmly dressed as you are here in the Netherlands. The weather is treating us much more kindly and I am grateful. Take care of your little German. xox
ReplyDeleteDoes he actually stay in bed when he's sick? I have not managed that with Emma yet . . . I hope it's just a cold.
ReplyDeleteThese are heavy times.
LOL over I'm not German. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteLove that German comment. Kids..gotta love me. And the snow doesn't stick around here long enough to turn into chunks. Guess I am the lucky one.
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm not German. Your kids rule!
ReplyDeleteI had the realization this morning, that my daughters will grow up without really understanding what an amazing person Hillary is. As for Liz Lemon, I couldn't bring myself to watch last night. I think I need to wait until the show is available on dvd, so the idea that she's never coming back can really sink in, before I cry my eyes out, watching the last episode.
haha..the German comment is really funny!
ReplyDeleteI am not a Hillary fan so I am not sad to see her go...although Grandma who is now visiting Florida has her car parked in our driveway with a GO Hillary! bumper sticker on it...
There is hope for the world if a child who is sick can make a joke like that! I hope he feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd I cannot think about the heavy times in Alabama, except that I am compelled to pray for a good resolution.
can you really order/get delivered, groceries on Amazon? WHAT is the world coming to??? I might have to google this just to find out! ;)
ReplyDeleteKicking snow out of the wheel wells! That's my favorite activity too! We haven't had a decent snowstorm in Virginia since 2010, and I am deprived of my snow-kicking pasttime.
ReplyDeleteVery heavy times ...
ReplyDeleteI, too, looooove kicking those frozen chunks of yuck off of tire wells. Those poor southern suckas don't even know what they're missing.
ReplyDeleteI just found out about the bunker thing today. Dreadful.
