happy solstice!

Spill it, reader.  How are you celebrating the shortest day?

  1. I am celebrating by relaxing because the cantata is over! But not for long - I have some gifts still to wrap. I also will be spending part of the day harassing my children to get ready for the holiday. They will be glad that it is the shortest day of the year.

  2. We were supposed to be at a big family party today, but I have three sick kiddos. However, we will shortly be skyping into the party so we can all tell Santa what we want for Christmas. I'm so thankful today for the gift of modern technology! :)

  4. We finally got our tree today! And in an hour or so we'll leave to walk through the Janesville Rotary Gardens holiday lights, one of our favorite holiday traditions. Seems appropriate to be doing it on the solstice :-)

  5. I'm putting out a few more decorations and baking a ham.

  6. I will take my dog Phoebe for a nighttime walk to search for Christmas lights and to admire the winter stars. Happy Solstice, Green Girl!

  8. Celebrate? Celebrating a Packer win when they really needed one, of course.

  9. Went to church, stayed late to work (because there are 2 bulletins to complete in one normal workday on Tuesday).

  10. I'm guessing you chose the photo for its shortest shorts, and it makes me smile. :)
We went to church and two basketball games and cheered that we had reached the shortest day. Looking forward to longer ones. Happy solstice and Merry Christmas!

  11. Love the solstice. I like thinking about nature resting in all the darkness and coldness and knowing this is the turning point where we slowly start to creep back to warmth and light and growth.

  12. I took my kids, nieces and nephews and went to the light display at the local zoo. We had a blast!

  13. Celebrated the shortest day with a dawn walk with the dog, watching a little pink coming out on the clouds as the sun started rising :)

  14. Is it bad that I can't remember what I did a few days ago? Hmm... probably for the best. ;)
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
