the worst?

Getting stung by a jelly fish?

An airline jerking you around, forcing you to spend an extra day before you arrive?
Grabbing on to a bunch of stinging nettle?

Perhaps poison ivy?

Wicked, blistering sunburn?

This week I vote that a summer cold/flu is the worst. Feverish and sweaty when it's already humid, sore throat, achy, stuffy head, runny nose...

Excuse me while I gripe my way over to my spot on the hammock where I've been mostly napping and wiping at my face with kleenex.

Spill it, reader. What's the worst that's happened to you this summer? Let's commiserate.

  2. I'm working a ten day convention, stuck in a exhibit all with a summer cold and the air conditioning must be on 60 and the quick med clinic doctor wouldn't give me any drugs and they are blasting five kinds (and i am not exaggerating that number) of gospel music all day long. i want to cry.

  4. Yes, for some reason, being sick like that in the summer feels way more gross than it does in the winter.

  5. Nothing as bad as a summer cold. That should be illegal. I hope it goes through you quickly.

  6. Ugh, feel better. Summer colds are no fun. One summer hubby and I both got the stomach flu while on a 12 hour drive north. It was bad, bad, bad.

  7. Being sick in the summer should be against the law -- if it was, you'd be eligible for compensation for such an offense.

  8. Worst thing to happen to me? My chances of ovarian and colon cancer just shot up exponentially (brother has been diagnosed with cc), we lack central a/c and our temps have been in the triple digits. Still, I think you win the booby prize.

  9. The worst? We had heirloom tomatoes from a farm last year and larned how to save their seeds and planted them inside in April. The plants are big and blossoming---- I am NOT a good gardener at all, ever---- and now they all have blight! Makes me want to cry....

  10. There is no good time to be sick, but in the summer? Horrible! I hope you are feeling more like your healthy self very soon.

  11. Summer's been OK, which is good because spring was just sucky with illness, injury and death.

  12. Bladder infection. Plain old sucky bladder infection.

  13. I'm experiencing it now and trying to decide if I should write a blog post about it: being covered with hundreds of chigger bites. I hope your cold is better soon!

  14. That time I had Lyme's disease, caught very early thankfully, but the early onset symptoms were the most wicked flu I ever had - complete with body ache, fever and chills - in a heatwave. I followed that up with a most wicked case of poison ivy (quite literally - I finished my antibiotics for the first on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning found me in the dr's office for steroids for the second). I avoided the outside the rest of the summer.

  15. Not the worst, but up and down. Excitement and joy of a new baby, but exhausting with about 10 days of post-birth hospitalization for baby and then mom. Tonight we have family dinner with baby present at our home for the first time--a good sign that a new normal is here. And sometimes normal is the bomb.

    Feel better!
